  From The Secretary

The progress of any living and vibrant organization, it is said, is not in a straight line but in waves, almost like  historical cycles. There are ups and downs, but it is the resilience of the fabric of the institute that matters for it to survive, sustain and step forward with new dreams. East Bengal has just proved it against all odds during the last two years.

One may recall the circumstances when the Coach was entrusted with full liberty and authority to form the team, train it and guide it through the expectant season. The outcome of this was disastrous. The pride of the club was trampled. Once again it has been proved  - emotional diarrhoea   is no substitute for professional acumen and judgement. The Coach was replaced by one well known and with proven capabilities. The Club, once again, won the Federation Cup and there were glimpse of hope and joy all around, but very short lived! The catastrophical misfortune continued throughout the season and the honour of participating in AFC Cup matches turned into nightmare with serial defeats at home and abroad. This season one may like to see is obliterated from history book. Let us all  hope and pray that this will never be repeated as long as the red and gold  torch go on  blazing.

The new season 2010-11 is expected to unfold a new dawn with pleasing sunshine with the really new look team comprising of best players available in the country. The Ausralian Coach Trevor James Morgan is the new jewel-navigator who, it is warmly felt, will steer the team to regain the rightful crown for East Bengal not to ever loose in any blind alley of insane myopia. I sincerely request all members and supporters to extend full cooperation and roaring encouragements to the whole team, true to the traditional spirit of red and gold brigades. That will be the appropriate tribute to Late Jyotish Guha whose birth centenery is being celebrated with honour, gratitude and humility .

Another election, as per Club Rules, is in the offing. The members will vote  and elect the officials to manage the club and lead it to new heights not only by winning trophies but by ushering in developments in all spheres also so that the club is reckoned as a modern professional club of international standard.

In fine, this is possibly my last missive to you all and I would like to conclude with an appeal that let us all unite with a strong determination to uphold the honour of the Club's flag and its evershining torch which symbolises life, hope, aspirations of millions and induces demolition of all obstacles to prove that East Bengal is unterminable!

Long live East Bengal Club!
