Midfielder. In the modern football system he
was a very talented and speedy midfielder and got the distinction
of scoring goals in crucial matches (including International
matches) from the midfield position. He was indispensable as
a player to the Club and national team during his playing career.
He played for our club from 1985-1991 and 1994.
He captained the team in 1988 and 1991. Presently he is the
assistant coach of the club's senior football team.
Emeka Ezeugo
Striker. The World Cup footballer, who played
for Nigeria in the 1994 World Cup (USA) played for the East
Bengal club in 1986. Much younger when the club Shad him but
always ambitious, he played a very good season for East Bengal.
Cheema Okeri
Striker. Nigerian Footballer, who dominated the
Calcutta soccer scene with his lethal goal scoring ability played
for the Club to 1987 to 1990. During 1987 he was the highest
scorer in the Calcutta Football League with 26 goals. He again
played for the Club in the National Football Championship in
the year 1996-1997.
Kuljit Singh
Striker. He played for the Club from 1989-1992
being the Captain in the year 1992. He scored may crucial goal
for East Bengal particularly the most vital one was the winning
goal against Mahindra and Mahindra in the Durand Cup Final in
1990 which helped the Club to achieve the triple crown that
year. He represented India in International Football.
Emmanuel Opoku
Attacking Midfielder. A National player of Ghana,
played for East Bengal from 1998 to 1999. He was a very talented
player and was next only to Majid Baskar as a foreign player
who played in India.
