Subhas Bhowmick
Winger. Was most thrushy and powerful footballer (Forward) of the country. He was a good goal scorer, especially in International Football arena. A member of the Indian Football team in 1970 Asian games where India won the Bronze Medal. Played for the club in 1969, 1973-1975 & 1979. He was the highest scorer in the 1st Div League with 24 goals in 1973.
He has been one of the most successful coaches of the East Bengal football team having coached them in the last three seasons. He also represented India in Merdeka Tournament and Pesta Sukan Tournament in 1971.
 
Samaresh Chowdhury
Midfielder. The finest midfielder of the 70s with a skill to be highly unpredictable on the field. His team mates and opponents could never know which way the pass would go. He played for the team from 1970-1975 and 1977-1978 and captained in 1974.
He was the only footballer in his days who played for the national team in the different international tournaments with a body weight, which was far less than the required weight for international matches. He was famous to his co-players for his ready wit.
 
Gautam Sarkar
Midfielder. A hard tackler he played for the club from 1972-1976 and again in 1984. He was captain of the club in 1976. He made an impressive debut in the club's crucial tie with Mohammedan Sporting in 1972 League tie and never looked back since. With Samaresh Chaudhuri he formed a fine partnership which
served the club well in its purple patch from 1972-1975. He won a number of trophies for the club. He represented India in Asian Games and Merdeka in 1974.
 
Shyamal Ghosh
Defender. The most dependable defender of our team from 1973-1979 captained our team in 1977. Under his captaincy the team won the Calcutta 1st Div League without losing any point in this year for the second time, the 1st being in 1975. He was the Coach of the East Bengal team from 1992-1994.
 
Surajit Sengupta
Right Winger. The finest Right Winger of the club after P.Venkatesh. He was an artist with the ball, a terror for any defender of the country during his days due to his speed and skill. He was a born natural footballer. Played for our club from 1974-1979 and Captained in 1978. He was highest scorer in 1974 with 12 goals. He represented India in the Asian Games and Merdeka Tournament.
 
Bhaskar Ganguly
Goalkeeper. The Captain of Indian Football team in 1982 Asian games held at New Delhi. He served in Indian team in several International football tournaments with great success during his career in the club from 1976-1989 and again from 1991-1992, captained the team in 1984.
He is one of the best Goalkeepers India has ever produced but is yet to receive any government recognition like an Arjuna Award, etc.
 
Monoranjan Bhattacharya

Defender. A born natural defender, he was one of the most powerful and skillful players India ever had. During his playing career he was a very respected footballer in the football fraternity of the country. He represented the National Team in all the tournaments right from 1978 to 1989.
He set the record of playing a continuous fourteen years for the club from 1977-1990, left for two seasons and joined us again in 1993 - his last season on the Maidan. He was the Captain of the East Bengal team in 1981. He is also a qualified AFC Coach. He was the Coach of the team from 1996 - 1998 and again in 2000-2001 and under his coaching the club won the National Football League for the first time in 2000-2001 and the KBL Cup (Federation Cup). He is also yet to get any Government recognition like Arjuna Award etc. after his honest service to the national team for so many years. One recalls his outstanding performance for India against Argentina in the Nehru Cup Tournament in Kolkata.
 
Tarun Dey
Defender. Played in the club from 1982-1994 and 1997, captained the East Bengal team in 1986. He represented the National team in the different International tournaments for a long period. He is a qualified AFC Coach. He is at present the Coach of the junior team.
 
Majid Baskar
Attacking Midfielder. He is a true legend of the Calcutta Maidan-by far the best foreign footballer who ever played for any club in India. He was a World Cupper for Iran having played in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. Majid played for East Bengal Club from 1980 to 1981.
 
Jamshed Nasiri
Striker. An Iranian footballer who came to play for the club with Majid Baskar in 1980 -1981 and again came back as a matured player in 1985. He became the highest scorer in that very year with 17 goals in 1st Div. League. His goal against archrivals Mohun Bagan made East Bengal champions of the Federation Cup in 1985 in Bangalore.
It was thus that East Bengal became the champion club of India and qualified for the Asian Club Championship as the representatives of India.
 
Krishanu Dey
Striker/Attacking Midfielder. He was called the Indian Maradona due to his strong left foot skills and height. He played for East Bengal from 1985 - 1991 and 1994. He was the Captain of the team in 1989. He donned the Indian colours for several years and scored a hatrick in the Merdeka Football Tournament in Malaysia (1986).
He was much loved on the Calcutta Maidans for his sweet nature and gentlemanly behavior. He was the Chief Coach of the club's junior team till his sad demise in the month of March 2003
